Am I Depressed - Experiencing a Lifetime of Freedom

There are numerous evidence of depression. To some it is like living life in a box that keeps homing in on you; to others it is like you have on sun shades and your world is getting darker and darker; to others it is where daily jobs become simply impossible to perform and youand#39;re feeling completely dead.

Many folks have faced some form of depression in our lives, but some of us may cope with depression on a constant basis. For those that do, the manifestations of depression can be life altering.

At some point many of us will either experience the impact of depression, or will have a personal relationship with someone who is dealing with depression.

Am I Depressed?

Depression frequently shows itself, even at the beginning, with symptoms and signs that are straightforward to recognize. If you find yourself in an extended period of sadness and feeling dead, or it gets difficult to handle normal activities and living life takes on an appearance of darkness, you may have your answer to "Am I Depressed?"

Other signs are: decision-making becomes impossible, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, sleepiness and lack of motivation, pessimism, being absolutely exhausted, depression sets in, either not eating or overeating, never-ending worrying, and even thoughts of suicide.

If you can answer yes to even a couple of these symptoms, the beginning of a chronic fight with depression may be well on its way. Not a list to live life by. Glance at the definition of depression:

The first definition is a condition of psychological turmoil, typically with a total lack of energy and difficulty in maintaining concentration or interest in life.

The second definition shows a far more harsh form of depression: dreadful despondency and dejection, accompanied by sensations of hopelessness and incompetency. Frequently referred to as clinical depression. It can be caused by hormone imbalance, brain dysfunction, or other medical conditions. Individuals who suffer from clinical depression need help from specially trained medical doctors and Christian advisors.

Godly Perspective

Do you suspect God made you? If you answered yes, and you are facing depression, youand#39;ll wonder if something must be seriously wrong. First let me emphasize that there are several Christians, people in the Bible, and non Christians who cope with depression; it touches all areas of life. Faithful folks arenand#39;t proof against depression.

Being depressed does not mean God is mad at you, nor it is because of a lack of religion. It also does not necessarily imply you are not saved, or donand#39;t love God, or a thousand other statements folks will make. Please put all of that to rest. There are sufficient stigmas attached to anyone who has depression already, and they do not need a larger burden. They need their burden lifted.

Donand#39;t Be Surprised

We often think that painful trials, for example being depressed, should not be part of our life. If they are , there must something radically wrong. This verse can be terribly freeing because God is telling us not to be surprised, neither is it peculiar if we are experiencing suffering or agony in our life.

Dear friends, do not be shocked at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.
